About the role

  • Payroll Specialist contributing to Super.com's global payroll function for Canada and US. Responsible for administration, compliance, and process improvements in payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and process payroll for Canadian and US entities, including but not limited to, regular semi-monthly payroll, ad hoc bonuses and/or payments, etc.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, statutory deductions, vacation accruals, terminations, severance, and prorated payments.
  • Manage year-end payroll processes, including preparation, reconciliation, and distribution of T4s, W-2s, and other required tax documents.
  • Administer payroll-related aspects of Canada & US benefit programs, including benefit premium deductions, RRSP and 401(k) contributions, equity option exercises, RSUs, and taxable benefits.
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for US PEO (TriNet) and international PEO partner (Oyster), ensuring data accuracy, issue resolution, and compliance.
  • Partner with the People team and Finance team in implementing SOX-compliant payroll processes, controls, documentation, and reporting.
  • Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, and reconciliations, and variance analyses to support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, reconciliations, and explanations as required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee data.
  • Contribute to payroll process improvements, system implementations, and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and projects related to the role, as assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience processing payroll for both Canada and US payroll
  • 3+ years of experience administering payroll-related benefits, including RRSP/401(k) deductions, taxable benefits, equity, and year-end reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex payroll calculations (retroactive payments, vacation accruals, terminations, and severance payments, accruals and prorations, year-end calculations, etc.).
  • Experience working with PEO environments (TriNet preferred; PEO exposure an asset).
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP WorkForceNow; system implementation experience is a strong asset.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Payroll Certification (PCP or PCM) required
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and internal/external partners, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates a high level of urgency, proactivity, and confidentiality given the sensitive nature of this position.
