About the role
- Staff Engineer leading ambiguous, high-stakes engineering projects at Tali AI, which builds AI-powered clinical workflow platforms. Shaping real-time AI, infrastructure, reliability, and compliance systems.
Responsibilities
- Report to the VP Engineering and work on the highest-stakes, most ambiguous technical problems
- Lead strategically critical projects from unclear beginnings through completion
- De-risk projects and make irreversible decisions visible
- Work across real-time AI workflows, reliability engineering, AI infrastructure and platform engineering, GTM engineering, and security, privacy, and compliance
- Use AI to take on problems that would otherwise require a team
- Build architectural foundations including specifications, conventions, and standards
- Improve technical quality and team capability through decisions, code reviews, and architecture discussions
Requirements
- Proven technical leadership shipping complex systems from ambiguous starting points
- Experience making high-stakes architectural decisions under uncertainty and articulating tradeoffs clearly
- AI proficiency for decomposing large problems, maintaining execution coherence, and applying architectural judgment
- Strong product judgment, including defining scope, prioritizing, and connecting technical choices to outcomes without waiting for a PM
- Ability to improve other engineers through decisions, reasoning visibility, code review standards, and architecture discussions
