About the role

  • Actuarial Analyst forecasting loss ratios, claims, reserves, and financial results for TD Insurance, a Canadian provider of General, Life, and Health products. Building budgets, forecasts, and management reports.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare budgets and forecasts of expected loss ratios over a five-year time horizon
  • Develop appropriate assumptions and methods based on business and product changes
  • Project expected claims costs and future reserve variations
  • Project investment returns and future fiscal-year claims expenses
  • Provide the main input to Financial Condition Testing (FCT)
  • Build reports comparing actual versus planned premium projections
  • Report claims experience by frequency and severity
  • Prepare monthly financial results reporting for management decision-making
  • Implement risk mitigation, risk controls, processes, policies, and procedures
  • Support other Corporate Actuarial teams during peak periods

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or another quantitative area of study
  • Working towards Associateship with the Casualty Actuarial Society, Canadian Institute of Actuaries, or equivalent
  • Analytical and technical skills
  • Strong judgment and analytical thinking
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate analysis or report results
  • Thoroughness and high-quality work
  • Initiative, creativity, and critical thinking
  • Work experience with MS Excel
  • Programming skills in VBA or R are an asset
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of stress
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with business partners
  • Autonomous and perseverant
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
  • For Quebec roles: mastery of a language other than French to support employees requiring services in another language
