Actuarial Analyst III managing reinsurance risk, treaty renewals, reserves, and financial reporting for TD Insurance.
Supporting catastrophe analysis, forecasting, governance, and cross-functional actuarial initiatives.
Responsibilities
Execute monthly reinsurance financial reporting, including analysis and evaluation of amounts recoverable from reinsurers
Work with Corporate Actuarial and Finance on arising issues
Participate in annual reinsurance treaty and renewal processes
Plan and execute Catastrophic Bonds, review reinsurance strategy, and coordinate communications with reinsurance brokers and TD Global Counterparty Credit
Participate in loss forecasting for budget planning and periodic follow-ups
Coordinate timing of inputs and outputs with Corporate Actuarial, Pricing, and Finance
Develop and participate in projects and ad-hoc analyses, including climate change, risk accumulation, catastrophic scenarios, and by-peril analysis
Maintain controls, policies, and procedures while applying governance principles, including SOX and EUC controls, audit requirements, and model validation processes
Develop partnerships with Claims to understand the claim lifecycle and establish monitoring processes
Work independently with internal control partners, including Audit, E&Y, and Risk Management
Contribute to actuarial and analytical capabilities through mentorship, training sessions, and coaching
Inform internal partners about reinsurance strategies, share knowledge and best practices, and support cross-functional collaboration
Requirements
Undergraduate degree in actuarial science or another quantitative field
Working toward Casualty Actuarial Society designation (ACAS or FCAS)
5+ years of relevant experience
Strong computer and programming skills in Excel, VBA, R, and Python
Strong understanding of business strategies and behavior, finance, and the (re)insurance industry
Knowledge of financial and accounting concepts
