About the role

  • Actuarial analyst developing tools and processes for TD Insurance’s General Insurance reserves, capital, and risk management. Collaborating with Finance, Pricing, Reinsurance, Claims, and Analytics teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support teams investigating new actuarial techniques for reserves, capital and financial projections
  • Develop new tools, test features of existing tools, participate in tool deployment, establish controls and maintain tools
  • Periodically review, enhance and optimize current processes
  • Participate in profitability and economic-impact analyses for TD Insurance's portfolio and future reserves
  • Collaborate with Finance, Pricing, Reinsurance, Claims Operations, and Analytics & Modelling stakeholders
  • Enhance processes to maximize efficiency
  • Develop and implement reusable tools
  • Assimilate research papers and demonstrate their applicability to business use
  • Explain highly complex problems concisely
  • Communicate information effectively to colleagues and stakeholders
  • Develop detailed execution plans, manage stakeholder deliverables, and rigorously track multiple projects
  • Coach, develop, and inspire colleagues toward new goals and leadership

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge in programming languages such as R, Python, SQL, VBA or other
  • Ease to learn new programming languages, software and concepts
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements, the insurance industry and risk management concepts is an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Highly adaptable when discussing with stakeholders with different expertise, training and hierarchical positions
  • Ability to work effectively during periods of stress
  • Ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with business partners
  • Autonomous and perseverant
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or another quantitative area of study
  • Acquired or working towards Associateship with the Casualty Actuarial Society, Canadian Institute of Actuaries or equivalent
  • Experience in Corporate Actuarial is an asset
  • For Quebec roles: mastery of a language other than French to support or deal with employees or colleagues requiring services and support in another language
