About the role

  • Software Engineer II building secure, scalable cloud services for TD Bank’s EDMO Data Catalog. Designing APIs, integrations and data flows while supporting reliable enterprise operations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement scalable, reliable and secure solutions for EDMO Data Catalog services
  • Translate architecture and product requirements into quality software
  • Design, develop, test and provide operational support for assigned solution areas
  • Develop and document detailed solution designs and act as an application SME
  • Build, test and support application components, APIs, integrations and data flows
  • Build and support cloud-ready components using approved infrastructure, deployment and scalability patterns
  • Analyze technical requirements and recommend engineering solutions
  • Review technical deliverables for quality gaps, redesign needs and cross-release impacts
  • Define metrics, validate performance goals and address application or data issues
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools within enterprise guardrails
  • Validate AI-generated code through peer review, automated tests, linting, dependency checks and secure coding practices
  • Document prompts, assumptions or generated artefacts when required
  • Escalate privacy, IP, security or data-handling concerns
  • Conduct code reviews and contribute to operational readiness reviews and sign-offs
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce cost and automate manual effort
  • Identify and manage risks and escalate non-standard or high-risk activities
  • Mentor team members and share engineering practices
  • Communicate project status, technical risks and issues
  • Build working relationships with technology partners, product stakeholders and control functions

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals across backend services, APIs, data modelling, testing and operational support
  • Experience developing secure, maintainable code in Python and modern languages and frameworks
  • Preferably experience with TypeScript / Node.js and cloud-native patterns
  • Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, cloud-native application patterns, infrastructure-as-code concepts, containerized services, observability and secure deployment practices
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, dependency management, observability and incident support
  • Ability to translate requirements into technical designs, estimates, user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to explain technical choices, risks and trade-offs to engineers and stakeholders
  • Experience with data management, data governance, metadata platforms or data catalog services preferred
  • Familiarity with Collibra or comparable data intelligence platforms is a plus
  • pandas experience is a plus
  • Experience with Azure, AWS or hybrid cloud platforms preferred
  • Practical exposure to coding copilots or LLM-assisted engineering workflows
  • Undergraduate degree, Postgraduate degree or Technical Certificate
  • Strong academic background, such as computer science or engineering
  • 3 - 5+ years relevant experience
