About the role

Engineering Manager guiding a team of developers to ensure reliability and quality at Wealthsimple. Collaborating with product teams and advocating for systemic improvements.

Responsibilities

Guide and support a team of developers through coaching, career development, and regular feedback conversations
Partner with product teams to identify reliability challenges and create targeted solutions that improve the client experience
Build strong relationships with team members across engineering to understand their needs and advocate for tooling improvements
Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape project proposals and bring them to relevant planning discussions
Lead migrations, unblock dependencies, and keep momentum
Promote best practices for production engineering and help establish patterns that scale across the organization
Coordinate the team's rotation program, ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding as developers move between Platform and Product

Experience in development and managing software engineering teams
Strong technical background with the ability to engage meaningfully in discussions about system reliability, performance, and architecture
Experience partnering with multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives
Excellent communication skills for sharing updates, building alignment, and creating documentation
A collaborative approach that builds trust and empathy between different parts of the organization
Nice to haves: Experience with platform or infrastructure engineering teams, Background in reliability engineering, SRE, or production operations, Familiarity with observability tools and incident management processes
