About the role

  • Engineering Manager guiding a team of developers to ensure reliability and quality at Wealthsimple. Collaborating with product teams and advocating for systemic improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and support a team of developers through coaching, career development, and regular feedback conversations
  • Partner with product teams to identify reliability challenges and create targeted solutions that improve the client experience
  • Build strong relationships with team members across engineering to understand their needs and advocate for tooling improvements
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to shape project proposals and bring them to relevant planning discussions
  • Lead migrations, unblock dependencies, and keep momentum
  • Promote best practices for production engineering and help establish patterns that scale across the organization
  • Coordinate the team's rotation program, ensuring smooth onboarding and offboarding as developers move between Platform and Product

Requirements

  • Experience in development and managing software engineering teams
  • Strong technical background with the ability to engage meaningfully in discussions about system reliability, performance, and architecture
  • Experience partnering with multiple teams to coordinate cross-functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills for sharing updates, building alignment, and creating documentation
  • A collaborative approach that builds trust and empathy between different parts of the organization
  • Nice to haves: Experience with platform or infrastructure engineering teams, Background in reliability engineering, SRE, or production operations, Familiarity with observability tools and incident management processes
