About the role

Software Development Manager leading R&D Platform Teams at Wealthsimple. Collaborating with cross-functional peers to ship products for mobile and web platforms.

Responsibilities

Set a strategic engineering vision with your Product counterpart to develop a roadmap for your team, working closely with stakeholders.
Work with your team to define, implement and maintain our Leverage infrastructure using Java/Kotlin
Deeply understand our clients’ experiences to set and maintain a high quality bar for developers across platforms.
Work closely with stakeholders to develop new products serving our margin, futures, and options clients
Be a hands-on leader with strong craft to provide clear direction to your team and produce high quality work at speed.
Ensure Design, Product, and Engineering (and other functions) work well together and are aligned on shared goals for planning and project work.
Directly manage developers through identifying career and development opportunities.
Establish a strong culture on your team and help to mature our engineering practices.
Create clarity through shared rituals, strong communication and context.

Experience leading engineering teams of 4+ engineers
Experience building backend infrastructure for low latency, high availability systems
Experience working in a fast-moving, high-growth company and/or experience working in consumer fintech
Experience working in a collaborative environment with product management, design and data partners
Experience with our tools and technologies: Java/Kotlin, GraphQL with Apollo, Kafka, Kubernetes (note: experience with all is a nice to have, not required!)
