About the role

  • Dispatcher routing WM drivers and resolving service issues for environmental collection and disposal operations. Managing same-day ticket routing and next-day route preparation across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with WM drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route
  • Handle incoming service orders and direct drivers
  • Resolve residential, commercial, and roll-off service issues
  • Interact with customer service, sales, route managers, mechanics, and other operational staff
  • Use WM proprietary software to manage same-day ticket routing
  • Prepare all routes for the next day
  • Dispatch drivers based on customer needs, driver locations, loads, cost, and customer satisfaction
  • Optimize routes with sites and the service department
  • Determine daily driver staffing levels
  • Assign routes and service tickets throughout the day and for the next day
  • Manage route actions and ensure route completion
  • Handle incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales
  • Manage pickup and delivery requests for container movements within the market area
  • Communicate with customers while drivers are on site to resolve service delays
  • Troubleshoot delivery and pickup problems
  • Ensure same-day service on missed pickups by managing routing and tracking driver movement

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 6 months of relevant work experience in a team setting
  • Ability to communicate to several areas effectively
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must live and work in Canada
  • Some travel, up to 15%, may be required
  • Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or a similar area of study preferred
  • Customer service experience in a call-center environment preferred
