About the role

  • Technical Writer responsible for developing technical documentation in support of Integrated Logistics Support. Collaborating with engineering and logistics teams to ensure compliance with standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a range of technical documentation (operation, maintenance, and illustrated parts manuals)
  • Translate engineering drawings, specifications, and design data into clear written content
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather source data and verify technical accuracy
  • Ensure compliance of all deliverables with defence documentation requirements and regulations
  • Utilize authoring and content management tools to create and publish structured documentation efficiently
  • Perform validation activities to ensure completeness and compliance prior to delivery
  • Maintain version control and manage configuration changes to technical documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation standards and authoring processes
  • Support the Supervisor, Technical Publications in developing schedules and reporting progress
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to documentation quality and compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, English, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience developing technical documentation, preferably within a defence, maritime, or heavy engineering environment
  • Experience with S1000D or equivalent structured documentation standard
  • Familiarity with defence/shipbuilding industry standards and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) frameworks is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and translate engineering drawings, data, and specifications into accurate documentation
  • Strong command of technical writing principles, structure, and formatting for complex systems
  • Proficient in technical authoring and content management tools (Hico IPS Suite, R4i, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, XML editors, Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of S1000D, MIL-STD, or DEF STAN documentation frameworks
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
