About the role

  • Own Canadian payroll accuracy and compliance end-to-end. Act as a trusted subject matter expert, influence solutions, and deliver payroll services in partnership with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group partners. Provide day-to-day subject matter expertise for payroll operations and support HR to meet payroll run and build requirements. Execute Canadian payroll operational processes, program management activities, and related administrative tasks to achieve business results and the intended employee experience. Deliver payroll services in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Support ongoing payroll program execution to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient service delivery. Monitor and track operational performance, identify issues, and drive resolution. Conduct independent analysis to resolve strategic and operational issues using data and informed judgement. Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards to support governance and decision-making. Build and maintain effective relationships across internal and external stakeholders and ensure alignment. Develop knowledge of payroll programs and processes, including year-end compensation processes, vacation reconciliation, overpayments, and escalations. Collaborate with stakeholders and external suppliers/programs to plan, implement, and sustain payroll workflows and tools. Build change management plans and participate in readiness, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment. Coach team members to support delivery of assigned work. Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs. Apply risk management expectations in decision-making and execution in line with risk culture and approved risk appetite.

Requirements

  • Typically 5–7 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In-depth project/program management skills. In-depth payroll program and/or payroll operations experience. Deep technical proficiency and applied knowledge gained through extensive education and business experience. In-depth verbal and written communication skills. In-depth collaboration and team skills. In-depth analytical and problem-solving capabilities. In-depth influence skills. Strong data-driven decision-making. Nice to have: Experience with Workday, Experience with outsourced payroll providers.
