About the role

  • Technical service representative supporting marine and industrial coatings customers for AkzoNobel in Vancouver. Conducting inspections, troubleshooting applications, and assisting sales with product trials.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and monitor customers on best coating and painting application practices in accordance with company specifications
  • Troubleshoot customer application issues
  • Advise customers, applicators, and supervisors when conditions are outside company specifications or application guidelines
  • Document unresolved specification issues with exception reports
  • Generate and maintain accurate records and application reports for company products
  • Record environmental conditions, surface preparation, and relevant coating application information
  • Attend scheduled inspections
  • Verify specification and standard adherence
  • Perform quality checks of surface preparation and painting application steps
  • Participate in the selling process by assisting with product trials
  • Provide technical reviews, product trials, consultative services, technical analysis, process analysis, and recommendations to customers, distributors, and prospects
  • Support the sales team by delivering technical services within an assigned area

Requirements

  • Knowledge of coating application techniques and parameters for marine and/or industrial coatings; 5+ years preferred
  • Experience working in a shipyard preferred
  • Inspection or practical experience working with coatings in an industrial facility or setting
  • AMPP, NACE I, Frosio Inspector III or equivalent
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to navigate user-friendly web-based programs
  • Good command of English, read, spoken, and written
  • Must have a Canadian driver's license
  • Ability to travel to the USA if required
  • Must be able to pass Security Clearance under the Canadian government’s Controlled Goods Program Security Assessment
