Responsibilities
Independently conduct inspections, investigations, complaint reviews, and compliance monitoring activities
Assess adherence to the Continuing Care Act, associated regulations, and Continuing Care Health Service Standards
Identify risks, evaluate provider practices, and recommend corrective or enforcement actions
Monitor and follow up on Duty to Notify reports and other significant incidents
Apply clinical expertise and professional judgment to evaluate care and service delivery
Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance to service providers and stakeholders
Contribute to policy development, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance monitoring enhancements
Build and maintain relationships with operators, residents, families, healthcare professionals, and government partners
Communicate inspection findings and collaborate with providers to address non-compliance
Prepare clear, accurate, evidence-based inspection and investigation reports
Maintain records of compliance activities, enforcement actions, and stakeholder interactions
Identify emerging trends and provide recommendations for regulatory oversight and decision-making
Stay current on legislation, industry trends, and best practices
Support enhancement of inspection processes, regulatory tools, and compliance resources
Contribute to training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
Requirements
Degree related to nursing, social work, gerontology, health sciences, public health, health administration, or a related field and four (4) years of related experience
Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college if required by the Health Professions Act
Alternatively, a diploma related to the position assignment and six (6) years of related experience
Alternatively, a Master’s degree related to the position assignment and three (3) years of related experience
Knowledge of Alberta's healthcare delivery system, continuing care sector, and principles of administrative fairness, procedural fairness, and natural justice
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout Alberta as required
Reliable vehicle required
Ability to provide a driver’s abstract
May be required to undergo a criminal records check
