About the role

  • Product Owner leading digital transformation within Alberta’s mental health and addiction services. Championing product strategy and technology solutions in collaboration with stakeholders and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for championing digital transformation and representing the Ministry within a product team.
  • Responsible for overall product strategy, ministry stakeholders, long-term vision for the product, and ministry processes and procedures to meet the business needs.
  • Coordinates between the product team and program area staff to deliver technology solutions that enable cross-sector collaboration in strategic initiatives.
  • Supports the implementation of new legislation and other priority projects through new digital services.
  • Conducts user-centric research to improve client and employee experiences and makes recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Champions agile and digital methodologies, provides status reports, monitors product progress metrics, and leads product demonstrations to various stakeholders.
  • Leads internal stakeholder engagement to gather input for collaborative projects and corporate processes.

Requirements

  • A University degree in a related field (e.g. Commerce, Business, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, Statistics, Technology) plus 4 years progressively related experience.
  • Required experience: Product Ownership/Management.
  • Supporting digital delivery of services in either the public or private sector.
  • Agile Scrum methodologies, including process mapping, organizational analysis, benefits and risk management.
  • Equivalencies may be considered: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
  • The following will be considered assets: Knowledge of mental health and addiction service legislation and regulations.
  • Experience working in health care or social services.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Experience managing through influence (this position has no direct reports but will be required to lead teams).
