About the role
- Claims Adjuster specializing in litigated bodily injury claims for AMA with responsibilities in settling cases and fostering relationships. Requires strong negotiation and claims evaluation skills.
Responsibilities
- Settle litigated injury/liability claims in a fair and timely manner
- Investigate, evaluate and negotiate bodily injury claims with plaintiff counsel or through defense counsel to equitably settle claims
- Adhere to company Bodily Injury Guidelines
- Assess information and case law to form arguments to defend liability position
- Foster strong working relationships within the Claims Department, other business units and industry partners
Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent (bonus points for related post-secondary education)
- CIP/FCIP designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada (or working towards it)
- at least 2 years of bodily injury claims adjusting experience and 5 years or more of adjusting experience
- strong knowledge of litigation file handling procedures, case law, medical terminology and common injuries
