About the role

  • Associate Director overseeing Apotex’s external pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply partnerships. Driving partner performance, supply reliability, quality, contracts, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and optimize partnerships with external manufacturing and supply partners, including CMOs, CPOs, in-licensing and co-development partners
  • Lead strategic and operational relationships with CMOs/CPOs within the assigned portfolio
  • Manage operational relationships for in-licensing and co-development partners in collaboration with Strategic Alliance Management
  • Ensure partner performance, governance, issue resolution, supply reliability, quality performance and cost optimization
  • Report to the VP, Global External Manufacturing and participate in the Global External Manufacturing Site Leadership Team
  • Build and maintain compliant, efficient and cost-effective external manufacturer and supplier relationships
  • Lead governance processes and operations for assigned partners and portfolio
  • Oversee master supply agreement execution, updates and renewals with Legal and Procurement
  • Participate in new contract development with Business Development and other departments
  • Hold partners accountable for contractual obligations and agreed performance standards
  • Address complex operational and contractual issues and mitigate risks
  • Lead performance management, business reviews and KPI tracking for service, delivery, quality and cost
  • Conduct financial reviews, including Total Cost of Ownership analysis
  • Lead cross-functional teams across Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality and Technical/MS&T to address disruptions and implement risk mitigation
  • Contribute to Global External Manufacturing strategy, performance initiatives and organizational priorities
  • Work safely, uphold organizational values and comply with business ethics, quality, safety, environmental and HR policies
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in Business and/or Science related field
  • MBA considered an asset
  • Integrated Project Management, Technical Acumen, PMP, Supply Chain Certification considered an asset
  • Strong decision-making, communication, facilitation skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to internal and external partners
  • Excellent leadership skills and proven experience holding cross-functional members accountable and facilitating the decision-making process
  • Experience with the creation and management of contracts and associated terms and conditions of Supply agreements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical products, technical/scientific and commercial
  • Familiarity with development, manufacturing, packaging and testing of products, and relevant equipment and facilities
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems such as SAP, MSP and EPM
  • Computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and project management software
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • 8+ years’ experience in external manufacturing and supply in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience managing partner relationships
  • Strong senior-level communication and relationship management skills
  • Proven ability to lead, ideally in a matrix-managed environment
  • Business and finance acumen in understanding cross-functional processes and information flows
