About the role

  • Senior Accountant managing close, reconciliations, fixed assets, and intercompany accounting for ASSA ABLOY’s global entrance automation business. Supporting divisions across the US and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense journal entries
  • Review preliminary income statements and key balance sheet accounts by division/entity
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
  • Research and resolve account variances and communicate resolutions to divisional controllers
  • Oversee fixed asset maintenance and reporting for multiple divisions
  • Participate in system setup reviews and implement changes
  • Test and analyze accounting systems for new implementations or platform changes
  • Collaborate with finance and operations groups on ad hoc requests
  • Develop and maintain procedural documentation
  • Support inventory counts across US and Canada branches
  • Mentor and train Staff Accountants and Accountants
  • Provide direction to staff accountants and review selected reconciliations
  • Record and eliminate intercompany activities in consolidation, including preparing inter-group statements and resolving balancing issues
  • Work with the Controller on special projects requiring detailed activity analysis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting required
  • Some combination of public audit and industry experience or 3–4 years of industry experience as an active participant in financial reporting and detailed sub-ledger reconciliations
  • Ability to travel for inventory counts across US and Canada (10–20%)
  • Advanced MS Office user (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Exposure to large financial information systems such as Oracle, JDE, SAP, HFM or AX
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment where structure is developing and procedures are evolving
  • “Roll up sleeves” attitude and willingness to contribute regardless of title
  • Independent self-starter who can monitor own deadlines and shift focus when necessary
  • Relationship builder comfortable with collaborative work and communication
  • Organized and open minded in evaluating solutions to problems/challenges
