About the role
- Senior Accountant overseeing IFRS/GAAP close, controls, and reporting for manufacturing business units. Serving as controller and strategic accounting advisor across business units.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, analyze, and lead financial close and reporting across multiple business units
- Oversee implementation and adherence to accounting policies and internal control procedures
- Lead initiatives to improve accounting efficiency, accuracy, and system effectiveness
- Prepare documentation and coordinate with internal and external auditors
- Reconcile accounts, ensure completeness and accuracy, and resolve discrepancies with cross-functional teams
- Identify and address financial risks, accounting variances, and issues
- Provide technical accounting guidance and operational support to internal stakeholders
- Mentor and train junior accounting members as needed
- Serve as the financial steward and controller for the assigned business unit, providing accounting advice and actionable insights
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) required for positions in Canada; candidates actively pursuing their Canadian CPA will be considered
- 5+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting roles
- Previous manufacturing experience required
- Deep knowledge of IFRS/GAAP, financial controls, and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in cost accounting, inventory, and labor/material analysis
- Strong Excel and ERP system proficiency
- Ability to communicate and influence complex topics, including financials, controls, and job performance, both written and verbally
