About the role

  • Firmware Developer building C/C++ embedded systems for ASSA ABLOY’s intelligent hotel lighting and guest room controls. Integrating protocols, debugging hardware, and ensuring safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded C/C++ firmware for intelligent lighting and guest room control systems
  • Design and test firmware for dimmers, sensors, relays, touch panels, smart thermostats, HVAC, shading, and other in-room products
  • Integrate DALI, DMX, RS-485, Modbus, and 0-10V communication protocols
  • Conduct board bring-up, hardware validation, and firmware debugging with lab tools
  • Develop and implement touch-based user interfaces for embedded devices
  • Optimize firmware for efficiency and real-time processing
  • Work with cloud platforms and protocols including Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
  • Identify and resolve firmware issues and troubleshoot firmware/hardware
  • Author design documentation, installation manuals, and test procedures
  • Implement comprehensive testing to meet performance requirements and security standards
  • Ensure products meet safety, EMI, and reliability standards
  • Develop embedded systems powering ASSA ABLOY’s intelligent lighting and guest room control platforms for hotel environments

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Technologies, or Computer Science
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded firmware/hardware
  • Experience with microcontrollers such as STM32, NXP, or Silicon Labs
  • Embedded C/C++ experience
  • Familiarity with guest room control systems and lighting control protocols such as DALI, DMX, and 0-10V would be an asset
  • Experience with low-voltage systems, including 24VDC and 120/277VAC interfaces
  • Skilled in debugging hardware and firmware using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Familiarity with Silicon Labs microcontrollers and Zigbee stacks such as EmberZNet PRO
  • Experience with Atmel touch-enabled microcontrollers
  • Understanding of touch-based embedded user interfaces, microcontrollers, RTOS, and resource-constrained environments
  • Embedded Linux knowledge would be an asset
  • Ability to work with cloud platforms and protocols such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
  • Ability to troubleshoot firmware and hardware
  • Knowledge of safety, EMI, and reliability standards such as UL, FCC, and CE
