About the role

  • Catastrophe Claims Adjuster assisting clients through challenging property claims with confidence and care. Join a world-class team at Aviva Canada to support and manage claims effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Review facts, policy, technical reports, fire marshal's reports, case law, and make decisions on coverage, value of first-party claims, and negotiate/settle the claims accordingly.
  • Investigate by meeting with insureds, third parties, witnesses, and lawyers to acquire facts and information.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and keep related parties advised of the claims status.
  • Ensure data accuracy, issue payments to insureds, vendors, and other relevant parties.
  • Negotiate and reconcile contractor estimates to arrive at an appropriate scope of repair and settlement.
  • Conduct physical inspections of damaged properties, including taking photographs, using a drone, crafting diagrams, and completing a scope of damage and estimate using Xactimate estimating software.
  • Identify large losses, questionable claim indicators, and subrogation opportunities early.
  • Maintain accurate reserving of claims files.

Requirements

  • College or University degree, or CIP designation.
  • Prior customer service experience, preferably with face-to-face interaction.
  • 3+ years of property personal and commercial experience.
  • Knowledge of building construction and estimating software.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel across Canada at a moment's notice and work away from home for up to 30 days at a time.
  • Capability to work extended hours and weekends 365 days/year.
  • Valid driver’s license.
