About the role
- Automotive Paint Technician supporting Axalta’s coatings customers near Toronto. Troubleshooting paint processes, collecting quality data, and advising customer manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
- Support relationships with management teams, procurement teams, and paint technicians at customer sites
- Maintain key communication with sales and management
- Provide technical direction and assistance to customers on product lines
- Respond to questions and concerns regarding product lines and general operations
- Troubleshoot and resolve painting issues related to product, application, inventory, and the general paint process
- Assist customers in overcoming line problems
- Gather data and material samples for analysis, testing, and reporting
- Assist with daily paint consumption, invoices, inventory, and paint ordering
- Collect viscosity, temperature, appearance, Wave Scan, and film build data
- Analyze collected data and regularly report results internally and to customers when required
- Notify appropriate parties when data falls outside expectations
- Support monthly plant quality reports and recommend specification and quality ranges
- Assist with customer demand forecasts, onsite inventory, and product orders
- Support customer projects (LWRs) and test requests; coordinate with chemists and report results to customers when requested
- Build relationships at all levels and help the team deliver value
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED required
- Additional education/college degree in Engineering/Technical field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years paint application and/or manufacturing experience is mandatory
- Automotive coatings industry alignment a plus
- Additional experience with automotive painting equipment is highly preferred
- Understanding of technical (lab, research, etc.) principles and practices
- General understanding of chemical handling and PSM (Process Safety Management)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while handling multiple projects
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%
- Local presence in the Toronto, CAN surrounding area required
