Responsibilities
Lead and manage specialized and advanced wealth planning for BMO Personal Wealth Distribution businesses in Private Wealth Canada
Lead a team of advanced planning professionals specializing in tax, estate and trust, business advisory and succession planning, and philanthropy
Provide advanced planning services to HNW and UHNW clients and support frontline professionals with resources, tools and systems
Develop BMO’s specialized planning strategy and thought leadership across North America
Lead distribution and sales support strategy to leverage specialized planning expertise
Identify wealth management opportunities across investment, insurance, trust, lending and other revenue sources
Set team direction, accountabilities, assignments and decision-making boundaries
Coach, motivate, develop and evaluate planning leaders and direct reports
Establish sales management processes to maximize portfolio growth, referrals and profile enhancement
Partner across BMO, including North American Commercial Banking and U.S. colleagues, on cross-business and cross-border planning opportunities
Recruit, develop and promote high-performing planning teams and build talent pipelines
Develop and implement advanced and specialized planning advice and service delivery strategies
Assess and approve external tax and estate planning experts
Provide subject matter expertise in investment, education, retirement and transition planning, with general knowledge of estate planning, personal taxation and insurance
Guide tools and technology platform selection for wealth planning professionals
Establish KPIs for planning performance, including penetration, completed plans, satisfaction, retention and quality metrics
Oversee complex deal escalations and provide direction on appropriate actions
Develop networks and referral sources to grow Wealth Management business
Deliver proactive, integrated and customized wealth planning strategies for clients
Build an effective quality review framework for delivered plans
Promote risk culture, regulatory compliance, inclusion, succession planning, talent retention, customer loyalty and business growth
Requirements
Post-secondary education, preferably with business orientation; MBA an asset
10+ years of experience providing financial planning services or advice as a senior financial planner
Strong business acumen connecting planning activity to client acquisition, retention, revenue growth, share of wallet and ROE
Strategic, enterprise-minded leadership and ability to translate strategy into execution
Change leadership capability across a national business
Canadian Securities Course or higher securities industry designation
CFP Designation required and/or Personal Financial Planner designation (ICB)
