About the role

  • Payroll Specialist administering payroll for clients in Canada and US while ensuring compliance with local laws. Join BrightIron to support growth technology companies with innovative financial and HR expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and process payroll for Clients with employees located throughout Canada (primarily in Ontario) and in the US utilizing various payroll providers, while ensuring compliance with local laws.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and employee payroll changes, including benefits and payroll records.
  • Respond to client and employee payroll related questions and issues that may arise.
  • Produce and submit Record of Employment and T4’s, and any other applicable reporting obligations.
  • Process and submit payroll related government remittances, including source deductions, EHT, WSIB, etc.
  • Process and calculate vacation accruals.
  • Implement payroll related systems and processes for Clients and focus on continuous improvement of processes and automation opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively and develop relationships with clients and BrightIron team members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years of related experience as a payroll administrator or payroll specialist.
  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Experience performing Canadian and US payroll.
  • Strong working knowledge of various payroll applications such as Wagepoint, ADP, Ceridian, etc.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including fluency in English.
  • Highly organized and comfortable interacting with clients independently.
  • Positive attitude and high level of professionalism when working with clients.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Meticulous with a proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
