About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst managing payroll accounting, SAP financial systems, and compliance for TELUS, a Canadian telecommunications company. Delivering reporting, controls, and insights for national operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to the P&C Operations leadership team as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert
  • Build relationships in a national and remote environment at all organizational levels
  • Represent P&C Operations in work, interactions, meetings and projects
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support team member programs and recommendations
  • Informally lead and support the offshore team of financial analysts
  • Execute and support biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll accounting functions
  • Manage payroll postings, GL accounts, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, employee receivables, liabilities, expenses, banking accounts and major payroll government remittances including CRA and MRQ
  • Manage payroll financial inputs and outputs for compliance with TELUS policies, legislation and collective agreement requirements
  • Lead internal and external auditor Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements
  • Ensure accuracy, appropriate use and protection of team member data
  • Leverage and enhance SAP payroll and financial systems
  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations with recommendations using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Identify, develop and implement simplification and innovation initiatives
  • Support companywide financial projections, modelling and budgeting
  • Provide expertise on payroll/accounting processes and system requirements for HR and payroll financial operations
  • Create financial reporting and related processes

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of experience in payroll and financial accounting, systems and compliance across federal, provincial and collective agreement environments within large, complex organizations
  • Payroll accounting/accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, CA) or equivalent
  • Strong quantitative, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial insights into clear recommendations for senior leadership
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and SAP Human Resources (HR) and Financial Information (FI) modules
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and lead change through team-oriented collaboration at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and facilitation skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience working with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Revenu Québec and internal and external auditors
  • Excellence in accuracy, attention to detail and protection of team member data
  • Commitment to protecting team member data and upholding privacy and compliance standards
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, with a drive for continuous learning and professional development
  • Experience working in SAP cloud environments
  • Bilingual in English and French (written and oral)
