About the role

  • Canadian immigration lawyer leading CanadaVisa’s Express Entry practice and five-person team. Driving operational excellence, AI adoption, client growth, and potential General Manager responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Express Entry practice and a team of approximately five case managers
  • Own the department's operational performance, including response times, pipeline velocity, file throughput, capacity, quality, and client satisfaction
  • Build a high-performing team through expectation-setting, coaching, performance management, talent development, recruitment, onboarding, and training
  • Create operational resilience through clear ownership, coverage, escalation paths, and redundancy
  • Provide senior legal oversight, guidance on complex matters, and quality-control processes
  • Identify and execute opportunities to increase capacity, improve conversion and client experience, expand services, and grow the practice
  • Partner with product and engineering to identify bottlenecks, automate repetitive work, and develop scalable legal workflows and technology
  • Use AI for research, preparation, quality control, training, client communication, and workflow management while maintaining legal and professional standards
  • Codify expertise into systems, playbooks, training, and technology
  • Develop toward broader P&L and General Manager responsibility by learning revenue, staffing, capacity, margins, investment decisions, and growth

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Canadian lawyer
  • Member in good standing of a Canadian law society
  • Eligible to practise in Canada
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or supervising people
  • Comfortable setting expectations, giving direct feedback, making difficult decisions, and handling escalations
  • Operational mindset with comfort using metrics, dashboards, targets, capacity planning, and accountability
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT
  • Strong systems-thinking and workflow/process design abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Immigration experience, particularly experience with permanent residence matters, is strongly preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, lawyers, legal professionals, executives, and technical teams
