About the role

  • Perinatal nurse assessing and managing high-risk obstetrical patients in St. Boniface Hospital’s Fetal Assessment Unit. Supporting obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology relief coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the health care needs of high-risk or at-risk obstetrical patients seen on-site at St. Boniface Hospital’s Fetal Assessment Unit
  • Work under the general supervision of and in collaboration with the Manager Health Services
  • Work in the Fetal Assessment Unit and in the Obstetrics, Gynecology & Neonatology Relief Team as needed
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital
  • Travel to remote locations through various forms of transportation as required
  • Participate in a skills assessment if selected for interview

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years recent, related nursing experience in a high risk perinatal unit required
  • Demonstrated nursing assessment skills required
  • Current C.R.N.M. registration required
  • Successful completion of the relevant portions of the Obstetrical Sonography Program through the Burwin Institute or recognized equivalent required, subject to the stated employer-scheduled completion exception
  • Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle required
  • Travel to remote locations through various forms of transportation (e.g., airplane, boat) required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking/problem solving, leadership and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated clinical competence
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, required
  • Child Abuse Registry Check required
  • Adult Abuse Registry Check required
  • Ability to comply with WRHA policy limiting combined positions to no more than 1.0 EFT
  • Midwifery Program and Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Previous fetal assessment unit experience preferred
  • Demonstrated research experience is an asset
