About the role

  • Registered Nurse providing emergency nursing and urgent care at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. Delivering treatments, coordinating patient discharge, and supporting patients with complex needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional registered nursing services for patients, including patients with complex and unpredictable health needs
  • Provide independent nursing services
  • Administer prescribed medical treatments
  • Act in a leadership role within the healthcare team
  • Facilitate coordination of patient care and discharge
  • Demonstrate commitment to the region, facility, and unit vision, values, goals, and objectives
  • Participate in full-time Emergency Nursing Orientation during Level 1, 2, and 3 training periods
  • Work days, nights, and weekends in the Urgent Care unit at Victoria General Hospital

Requirements

  • Recent, related experience is an asset
  • Current Emergency nursing experience preferred
  • Satisfactory employment record required
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required
  • Successful completion of WRHA Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO) Level 1 within 2 months of hire, with Levels 2 and 3 completed within 12 months of hire
  • Complete all other required training within 24 months
  • Maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training at the Healthcare Provider level required
  • Knowledge of CRNM Standards of Practice, CNA Code of Ethics, RHPA scope of practice, healthcare policies and protocols, nursing care, PHIA, protection and mental health legislation, WHMIS, routine practices, delegation, and healthcare team responsibilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize patient care and respond to simultaneous demands
  • Ability to pursue self-development opportunities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the healthcare team
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and maintain concentration with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment
  • Proficiency with computers, Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check required as conditions of employment
  • Applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledgeable in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values preferred
