About the role
- Data Technical Lead delivering scalable data and analytics solutions for Cuesta Partners’ consulting clients. Leading architecture, AI-augmented development, and technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Deliver data environments quickly using modern technologies and best practices
- Shape and build greenfield data areas for clients
- Establish technology best practices for analytical insights
- Deliver end-to-end data solutions and unlock actionable insights
- Acquire and transform datasets
- Ensure data models are reusable, data pipelines are scalable, and data visualizations are impactful
- Choose, develop, and optimize data technology environments
- Ensure development follows standards, specifications, controls, audits, and procedures for data integrity, quality, accuracy, usefulness, and timeliness
- Act as a data engineering subject matter expert and provide hands-on technical support
- Lead architectural discussions and advise on design decisions and trade-offs
- Set standards for AI-augmented development practices and coach the team
- Lead planning, execution, and delivery of client-facing and internal data projects
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, Business Stakeholders, and the Team Lead
- Define technology strategy and roadmap for the Data Team
- Serve as data architect for client engagements and design scalable data architectures
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning
- Improve processes, tools, and methodologies to drive efficiency and innovation
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8–10 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
- Strong background designing and implementing data solutions
- Active, hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar is a strong asset
- Proficiency in data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration
- Experience with data warehousing solutions
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with SQL, Python, and Spark
- Experience with modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric is a plus
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
- Effective technical and non-technical communication skills
- Ability to balance technical requirements with business goals and client needs
- Must be located in Canada
- Must provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States
