About the role

  • Operational Account Manager managing customer freight accounts for DSV, a global transport and logistics company. Coordinating shipments, carrier relationships, pricing, reporting, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop assigned accounts for the DSV Road team
  • Drive growth and profitability across assigned accounts between the Montreal and Milton offices
  • Analyze customer booking information to determine and verify service requirements
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound freight according to daily priorities and weekly transportation targets
  • Create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual business review PowerPoint presentations
  • Conduct customer business reviews in person or virtually
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and timely resolution of inquiries, concerns, and problems
  • Develop SOPs for assigned accounts and ensure colleague cross-training
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carriers and customers
  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries and resolve conflicts
  • Build transportation business with DSV Air & Sea and establish a one-stop shop across North America
  • Build a Center of Excellence for transportation needs originating from Air & Sea Business as required
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute customer requirements, including training and outsourcing functions
  • Assist with pricing internal and external business
  • Communicate with carriers to monitor freight movement
  • Enter real-time milestone updates in the TMS
  • Monitor unresponsive carriers and escalate issues to dispatchers and supervisors
  • Communicate modifications to the sales team for client updates
  • Ensure tracking meets established standards and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Monitor industry market conditions and communicate carrier issues affecting operations
  • Support transportation cargo claims, transportation laws, and risk management activities
  • Keep Operations and Sales updated on significant issues and trends
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 commitments at the Montreal location
  • Perform tasks supporting quality, health, safety, environmental, and sustainability objectives

Requirements

  • Minimum 4-5 years in transportation/logistics/distribution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Account Management
  • College Diploma / University Degree in Business, Logistics, or International Trade preferable
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
  • Good command of verbal and written English
  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in Power BI
  • Minimum intermediate Excel skillset
  • Service-oriented and able to resolve customer grievances
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build professional relationships
  • Ability to multitask, plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Working knowledge of transportation management software such as Load Link and PC Miler is an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
  • Regular working hours apply; work beyond these hours may be required by business needs
