About the role

  • Territory Manager launching EMPIRE’s Canadian Panjabi music market. Leading artist marketing, A&R, distribution, sales relationships, and campaign development from Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic market development and launch of EMPIRE, initially focusing on the Panjabi music market in Canada
  • Plan, direct, organize, execute, and control artist campaigns for domestic and international inbound releases
  • Support strategic planning of international and domestic releases
  • Create release and campaign timelines for domestic releases
  • Hire and manage third-party vendors, including PR, radio, and TV pluggers
  • Create and maintain marketing budgets for Canadian markets
  • Scout new talent for record label and distribution operations
  • Identify new domestic label clients for distribution via EMPIRE
  • Collaborate with A&R, social, PR, CRM, and other departments on marketing efforts
  • Monitor campaign success and maximize revenues and earnings
  • Administer project P&Ls
  • Research EMPIRE information services data for decision-making
  • Pursue new business development opportunities
  • Manage local sales relationships with the global sales team
  • Conduct platform outreach and relationship management
  • Pitch releases for streaming-service playlists and other key partners
  • Provide marketing drivers for the Commerce team
  • Direct and supervise creative assets supporting music and messaging
  • Develop and coordinate videos, artwork, and other visual content
  • Develop innovative fan-engagement campaigns using social platforms and new technologies
  • Manage consumer products and other marketing strategies
  • Build, maintain, and assess external marketing partnerships
  • Identify artist needs and align solutions with artist objectives
  • Monitor project risks and proactively develop solutions
  • Communicate and document project status and functional progress
  • Perform additional assigned duties

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience doing marketing/A&R in the entertainment industry
  • Experience breaking new artists with an understanding of current market conditions, trends and best practices
  • Music industry knowledge - Panjabi, Hip-hop, R&B, Desi
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to write and convey marketing strategies to teams within the label, management, and artists
  • Understanding of traditional and digital media, including social and content streaming platforms
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and complete tasks fully
  • Detail-oriented and extremely organized
  • Team player, open to feedback, with strong communication
  • Based in Toronto
