Senior Financial Analyst building financial models and management reports. Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis for a fast-growing Canadian financial institution.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain financial models distributed to management monthly and quarterly
Produce business unit profit and loss reporting, deposit forecasting and pricing analyses, NIM margin analysis, and budgets/forecasts
Run detailed financial models, liaise with different business units, and extract and manipulate data from various information sources
Use advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, nested IF statements, VLOOKUP, OFFSET, SUMIFS, and MATCH-INDEX, to build efficient and accurate financial models
Define, scope, and implement enhancements to detailed financial models and budgeting/forecasting tools
Help structure key processes and develop background documentation to enhance efficiencies and manage risk
Improve the technical accuracy, validation, and organization of financial models
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis requests with flexibility and attention to detail
Collect, consolidate, and analyze financial data and key performance metrics from various sources
Assist other areas of the Accounting and Finance department and business units as needed
Requirements
Four year Degree; Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business preferred
Preference for a CFA/CPA designation completed/in process
At least 4 - 5 years of progressive and relevant work experience
Demonstrated ability using MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including developing/running macros
Ability to work extensively with formulas, numbers and spreadsheets
Experience utilizing technology to gather and manipulate data
Experience using database query tools (i.e. SQL) is considered an asset
Knowledge of financial statements and reporting is required
Knowledge of financial modeling concepts is required
Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities (multi-tasking)
