About the role
- Senior Water Resources Engineer delivering hydrotechnical studies, designs, and field services for EXP’s mining clients. Preparing calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and Civil 3D grading plans.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering services to mining clients as part of the Mining Team
- Participate in hydrotechnical projects, including site investigations, studies, and detailed engineering for multidisciplinary projects
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets, and reports
- Complete engineering calculations and models for seepage and stability, pipe and drainage ditch design, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion, settling of solids, alternative cover demonstrations, geochemistry, and statistics
- Assist engineers and EITs with project scope, cost, and schedule requirements
- Prepare technical specifications based on input from other disciplines
- Plan and execute field exploration programs, including soil boring and test pit logging, well installation, development, and sampling
- Provide input to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates
- Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists
- Perform and document construction observation and construction quality assurance testing for geosynthetics or earthworks
- Prepare interpretive reports supporting engineering design and construction documents
- Develop grading plans and designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Assist with reports, cost estimating, specifications, and permit documents
- Report to the Vice President, Central Canada Mining, under the leadership of the Director of Engineering
Requirements
- Professional Engineer license in Ontario, Manitoba, and/or Newfoundland/Labrador
- Minimum 10+ years project engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Water Resources, Geological, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering or a similar engineering discipline
- Willingness to work within various industries and market sectors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Flexibility to travel for extended assignments and on short notice
- Strong work ethic
- Working knowledge of computers and engineering software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Organized, self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
