About the role

  • M&A Senior Associate/Manager executing transactions, financial modeling and valuations for EY clients. Advising businesses on acquisitions, divestitures, financing and strategic capital sourcing.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the M&A process from deal sourcing to closure
  • Perform market research and analyze business drivers, market competition, industry risks and opportunities
  • Synthesize comparable company and precedent transaction research for modeling, competitive and industry analysis, potential buyers and negotiation support
  • Prepare detailed financial models, including scenario analysis
  • Prepare valuation analyses using discounted cash flow, comparable market multiples and precedent transaction techniques
  • Prepare first drafts of pitches, marketing materials, management presentations and client presentations
  • Oversee electronic data rooms and manage due diligence processes for buy-side and sell-side engagements
  • Provide strategic advice to clients across industries and transaction types
  • Support VPs and SVPs in identifying and exploring potential new business

Requirements

  • Bilingualism in both French and English is required
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and International Finance and Accounting concepts
  • Understanding of key business drivers, principally as they relate to M&A transactions
  • Strong Word, Excel, PowerPoint and financial modeling skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple competing deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to develop relationships and liaise with EY colleagues and team members
  • Passion for working with entrepreneurs, private business owners and management teams
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a similar program
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant work experience, such as investment banking, M&A, financing, corporate development or financial analysis
