About the role
- Industrial Services Supervisor leading GFL Environmental’s liquids operations in Sudbury. Managing crews, equipment, documentation, safety, compliance, and emergency spill response.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to customers and outside haulers while on site
- Operate all vehicles and equipment safely and properly
- Conduct pre-shift tailgates
- Follow rules and requirements on customer or GFL property
- Complete required paperwork, including daily log books, manifests, BOLs and rinse-out sheets
- Manage and maintain data management systems
- Assist with emergency spill response on and off site
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly equipment checks using the Flex App
- Maintain PPE inventory
- Perform minor equipment maintenance as required
- Coach and train others
- Coordinate with other departments and shifts to clarify roles and responsibilities
- Manage employee complaints and concerns
- Attend required meetings and training
- Oversee employees' adherence to company policies, procedures and safe-work practices
- Participate in developing SOPs, job procedures and investigations
- Ensure sign-off sheets and memos are completed
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Work day, afternoon and night shifts, including continental 12-hour shifts according to the latest schedule
Requirements
- Confined space entry and rescue an asset
- WHIMIS/TDG/REG 347
- First Aid/CPR training
- Experience and strong knowledge of tractor trailers, vacuum trucks, tankers and roll off trucks
- Experience and strong knowledge of loaders, backhoes, skid steers and forklifts
- Demonstrates a safe operating record
- No attendance or progressive discipline issues
- Demonstrates competence handling all aspects of day-to-day operations
- Effective communication skills to lead and manage a crew
- Effective communication skills to delegate daily assigned duties
- Minimum 2 years in the waste industry with progressive responsibilities recommended
- Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
