About the role

  • Maintenance Technician maintaining GFL’s industrial water treatment and waste processing facilities. Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assure maintenance services for a fixed industrial water treatment and waste processing facility meet expected process availability
  • Provide mechanical oversight for construction activities associated with capital works projects
  • Participate in GFL’s Environmental, Health & Safety Program
  • Comply with corporate and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Install, repair, dismantle, and align pumps, filter presses, compressors, air strippers, air scrubbers, baghouses, rake drives, agitators, tanks, piping, valves, electrical and automated systems, and mobile equipment
  • Inspect and analyze equipment to detect anomalies and malfunctions
  • Schedule, lead, and assist third-party mechanical and repair services and project management
  • Ensure repairs comply with government standards for specified equipment
  • Assist with safety and preventative maintenance inspections
  • Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments for non-routine maintenance, repairs, installations, and retrofits
  • Maintain the web-based Preventative Maintenance program
  • Retain critical spare parts inventory
  • Perform other duties assigned by management
  • Work primarily day shift, 7am-3pm, with additional hours as required to meet customer requirements
  • Work indoors and outdoors in ambient weather conditions

Requirements

  • Previous maintenance experience in an industrial environment is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in a similar role
  • Previous knowledge of heavy equipment, process equipment, pumps, valves, etc. required
  • Experience and knowledge with industrial 240/600V and 4-20 milliamp electrical systems
  • Experience and knowledge with PLC systems
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, and manuals
  • Ability to troubleshoot and recognize anomalies
  • Experience completing preventative maintenance inspections and software
  • Welding experience with MIG, Acetylene, Stick, and Plasma techniques
  • Experience managing third-party service providers
  • Comfortable working in varied outdoor weather conditions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid G license and acceptable driver abstract
  • Must be able to wear a respirator as required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
  • Successful completion of a drug and alcohol test, if applicable
