About the role
- Senior Financial Insights Analyst identifying P&L leakage and improving retailer invoicing for Instacart’s grocery marketplace. Connecting financial data with SQL, Python, and AI-driven automation.
Responsibilities
- Identify and close P&L leakage through rigorous analysis of financial and transactional data
- Build and maintain AI- and automation-based alerting capabilities to surface issues in real time
- Develop expert-level understanding of marketplace data, reporting capabilities, and invoicing processes
- Diagnose invoice challenges and work with retailer partnerships to resolve them
- Connect and analyze complex datasets from multiple systems using SQL, Excel or Google Sheets, and Python
- Synthesize findings into clear, visually compelling narratives
- Present findings to internal and external stakeholders via Google Slides or PowerPoint
- Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Prioritize high-impact problems and develop efficient, high-quality solutions
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Management Consulting supporting commercial deals or growth initiatives in technology, e-commerce, marketplace, logistics, or retail
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Strong analytical and technical skills
- Ability to craft compelling narratives and identify impactful insights
- Ability to create clear, visually appealing stories that convince retailers to take action
- Ability to connect large datasets from multiple systems and establish real-time alerting capabilities
- Experience with PowerPoint / Google Slides
- Experience writing advanced SQL queries
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and deconstruct complex problems efficiently
- Preferred: 2+ years applying AI solutions to a business vertical
- Preferred: Experience with marketplace or retailer/CPG partnerships, platform economics, or merchant POS data analysis
- Preferred: Collaboration with Sales or Account Management on deal terms and partner economics
- Preferred: Experience in Investment Banking or Consulting
