About the role
- Business Systems Analyst translating AI business needs into testable requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Managing Agile backlogs, stakeholder decisions, testing, and releases for Canadian IT consulting clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery sessions to understand business outcomes, current-state processes, pain points, and desired future-state capabilities
- Use process mapping, user journeys, personas, business rules analysis, use cases, and workflow modeling to uncover complete requirements
- Identify gaps, assumptions, dependencies, edge cases, impacts, conflicting stakeholder needs, missing decisions, downstream impacts, and implementation risks
- Define user interactions, process impacts, governance considerations, business rules, and success metrics for AI-enabled business solutions
- Translate ambiguous business requests into detailed functional and non-functional requirements
- Drive requirements to an implementation-ready state with minimal downstream clarification
- Ensure requirements are complete, traceable, testable, and aligned to business objectives
- Partner with stakeholders to challenge assumptions and uncover unmet or unstated needs
- Complete process decomposition exercises as required
- Own work from requirements through implementation
- Create requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation plans
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, retrospectives, and releases as appropriate
- Maintain RAID logs, dependencies, milestones, and delivery plans
- Identify issues early and proactively drive resolution
- Provide clear, fact-based status reporting to stakeholders
- Utilize Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) to support delivery activities
- Work directly with senior business, analytics, data, and technology stakeholders
- Manage competing priorities and facilitate stakeholder decision-making
- Communicate risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and impacts effectively
- Work independently with minimal management oversight
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis within a matrixed environment
- Strong business analysis experience
- Experience participating in or leading requirements gathering exercises
- Prior experience with AI-related projects and solutions
- Demonstrated ability to manage requirements phase activities and deliverables
- Excellent requirements gathering and analytical problem-solving skills
- Strong Agile delivery experience, including backlog management, user stories, sprint planning, prioritization, testing, and releases
- Proven ability to work effectively with challenging stakeholders and competing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving and complex organization
- Experience working with enterprise HR functions and stakeholders (preferred)
- Strong understanding of HR processes and functions (preferred)
- Experience working with global organizations and cross-functional teams (preferred)
- Agile, Scrum, or Project Management certification (preferred)
- Strong understanding of how AI can solve business problems and create business value (preferred)
- Experience supporting AI-focused projects and programs from a requirements and testing perspective (preferred)
- Experience leveraging generative AI tools to support requirements and testing activities (preferred)
