About the role
- Software Engineer II building SEO visibility features and CRM campaign tooling for Instacart’s grocery delivery platform. Developing full-stack systems, email components, data pipelines, and marketing automation.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship full-stack features improving search engine visibility, AI answer engine performance, and organic traffic
- Build and evolve a modular React email component library compiling to secure, client-safe HTML
- Develop responsive, accessible HTML/CSS emails across clients, devices, and dark mode
- Enhance the Next.js compilation pipeline for preview, compilation, validation, export, speed, reliability, and observability
- Contribute to SEO/AEO data ingestion, transformation, and delivery pipelines
- Execute dynamic CRM campaigns across email, push, and in-app channels using structured blocks, templating, JSON/YAML, Braze, REST APIs, and webhooks
- Build automation and internal tooling for QA, SEO experimentation, CRM deep-linking, and token coverage
- Deliver performant, observable, and cost-aware code
- Troubleshoot rendering and logic issues, lead triage and root-cause analysis, and implement system-level fixes
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and marketing partners to translate user needs into technical requirements and shared outcomes
Requirements
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Ruby, Python, PostgreSQL, and SQL
- Ability to build and launch complete full-stack features with minimal oversight
- Hands-on React and Next.js experience
- Expertise in HTML/CSS and responsive email development
- Experience with distributed systems and data engineering
- Exposure to Airflow or dbt
- Experience building and testing REST API integrations using JSON and webhooks
- Secure, privacy-compliant data handling
- Ability to write performant code and improve observability through logging and metrics
- Strong product mindset
- Effective cross-functional communication and collaboration
- SEO/AEO familiarity, structured data, crawling/indexing, and Core Web Vitals are preferred
- Familiarity with Liquid, AMPscript, Braze, or Salesforce Marketing Cloud is preferred
- Experience with email QA tools, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress/Playwright, big data, NoSQL, data warehousing, design systems, experimentation, AI solutions, or marketing growth initiatives is preferred
