About the role
- Claims Specialist handling complex Accident Benefits and catastrophic injury files for Intact Insurance. Assessing coverage, investigating claims, negotiating settlements, and mentoring claims staff across Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Handle a pending of Accident Benefit files while receiving regular intake of Complex and Catastrophic claims
- Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess fair and equitable entitlements
- Communicate timely and respectfully with customer claimants, lawyers, and rehabilitation experts, and report findings
- Conduct investigations and identify additional information, including independent medical examinations and medical or employment history, to clarify or justify claims
- Complete regular reporting and liaise with Technical Services to ensure appropriate action and reserving
- Complete coaching initiatives
- Perform other reasonable duties assigned to assist the Business
Requirements
- University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
- At least 5+ years of Accident Benefit claims handling experience
- Handling experience of complex and catastrophic files considered an asset
- Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance
- Experience in negotiations and independently settling Complex Accident Benefit files
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of staff
- Excellent customer service skills
- Can-do attitude and openness to tackle new things
- Must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment
- Must maintain work eligibility in Canada; Intact does not provide immigration sponsorship or support
