About the role
- Test Automation Developer intern building automated QA solutions for Intact’s insurance technology platforms. Developing scripts, executing tests, and improving quality across billing and personal-lines software teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop automated tests and contribute to evolving testing practices
- Analyze and resolve problems using automated testing techniques including Selenium, Cucumber, and JMeter
- Work in a complex microservices-based billing architecture for property and casualty insurance
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Groovy and Cucumber
- Perform manual testing across various environments
- Design, create, and manage test cases in Zephyr and link them with Jira tickets
- Execute automated and manual tests
- Analyze test results and report issues with clear documentation
- Collaborate with developers and QA team members to resolve defects
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Contribute ideas to improve QA processes and automation frameworks
- Collaborate with development teams to coordinate and resolve technical issues
- Design, code, and test new features for quality and performance
- Apply design patterns, Scrum, and software development life cycle knowledge
- Perform automated testing across frontend and backend components
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a university degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
- Available to work full-time, 35 hours per week, during the Winter Term 2027 (January to April)
- Must be an active student during the internship and/or returning to school in Summer or Fall 2027
- Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills
- Proactive, curious, and eager-to-learn attitude
- Excellent logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
- Self-motivated and fast-learning attitude
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required to interact with English-speaking colleagues across Canada
- ReadyAPI, Java, Jenkins, Maven, JIRA, Confluence, REST and SOAP knowledge, Cypress, Selenium, Agile/Scrum, Groovy, Cucumber, Zephyr, CI/CD pipelines, and Git
