About the role
- Senior engineer at Sun Life, helping clients achieve financial security, automating network micro-segmentation and policy-as-code. Integrating analytics, CI/CD, security tools, and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated workflows for micro-segmentation policy creation, validation, and deployment across Sun Life's hybrid environments
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for policy-as-code to ensure consistent and auditable deployments
- Develop automation for continuous policy compliance monitoring and configuration drift detection
- Advance automation, data and analytics, DevOps, API, and platform integration capabilities within Network Services and business partners
- Integrate digital platforms for tooling and analytics to improve operational efficiency across the enterprise network ecosystem, on-premises and in the cloud
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, knowledge transfers, workshops, and training
- Work on automation code development primarily for Network Services, initially focused on micro/macro segmentation
- Operate under the general direction of the Director, Analytics and Automation Centre of Excellence
Requirements
- Deep micro-segmentation and security architecture knowledge
- Hands-on expertise with Guardicore
- Strong understanding of Zero Trust, least-privilege access, and reducing lateral movement
- Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, L3/L4 ACLs, and traffic flow analysis
- Proficiency in Python and/or PowerShell
- Mandatory Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD working experience
- Strong ability to work with REST APIs and JSON
- Experience integrating Guardicore with CMDBs, ServiceNow, and ticketing systems
- Experience building pipelines for automated evidence collection, configuration baselines, and audit reporting
- Skills managing the full policy lifecycle: discovery, testing, validation, enforcement, and reporting
- Ability to perform firewall rule-base and ACL reviews
- Experience integrating segmentation with enterprise monitoring tools, CMDB, and user-facing portals
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, or closely related technical field
- Five or more years coding and development using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other programming languages
- Two or more years of progressive experience in Policy-as-Code and Infrastructure-as-Code development using Ansible, Terraform, etc.
- At least five years in networks, security, IT, data analysis, and visualization
- Expertise in network programmability and integration with YANG, YAML, XML, JSON, NETCONF, and RESTCONF
- Knowledge of advanced networking, automation, PaC, IaC, DevOps, cybersecurity principles, identity and access management, and cloud infrastructure
- Ability to collaborate with Network, Security, Application Teams, and ITSM
- Must document complex architectural labels and automation workflows for compliance and auditability
- Advanced reasoning skills for defining problems, evaluating analytical data trends, establishing facts, and drawing supportable conclusions
- Ability to work in an Agile, fast-paced, high-risk, and high-pressure environment
