About the role

  • Bilingual disability and leave specialist managing disability, accommodation, and statutory leaves for McCarthy Tétrault, a leading Canadian law firm. Coordinating claims, payroll, providers, and employee reintegration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage disability leaves and accommodations throughout the Firm
  • Act as the main contact for firm members and providers regarding leave and accommodation benefits programs
  • Administer and coordinate end-to-end short-term and long-term disability leaves and accommodation requests
  • Plan return-to-work and reintegration processes
  • Support firm members throughout disability leaves and accommodations by providing program and benefit information and collecting required details
  • Provide documentation, information, and support to third-party vendors and insurance carriers
  • Securely store leave and accommodation communications and documentation in compliance with privacy and organizational requirements
  • Ensure accommodation requests comply with applicable legislation and firm policies
  • Track leave and accommodation dates, statuses, and return-to-work timelines in ServiceNow, Workday, and other trackers
  • Coordinate with payroll on leave payments and benefit adjustments
  • Liaise with firm members, managers, internal stakeholders, and third-party providers to facilitate reintegration and workplace accommodations
  • Provide subject matter expertise and identify process improvements
  • Maintain data integrity and confidentiality
  • Manage maternity, parental, family caregiver, and compassionate care leaves across the Firm
  • Administer and support all stages of these leaves
  • Calculate leave top-up payments and coordinate payment and benefit adjustments with payroll
  • Liaise with stakeholders to facilitate communication and information flow
  • Monitor leave timelines and return-to-work dates while supporting employee reintegration

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, human resources, or equivalent education relevant to the role
  • Bilingualism in English and French, spoken and written
  • Minimum five years of experience in a similar position involving leave management and accommodations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
  • Knowledge of Canadian laws, regulations, and programs related to benefits
