About the role

  • Contractor field operator monitoring pipelines, pigging systems, and integrity activities for NorthRiver Midstream’s Canadian gas gathering and processing operations. Supporting safe operations, emergency response, inspections, and regulatory reporting across field facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor pipeline facilities according to approved Operating & Maintenance Manuals
  • Execute pipeline start-ups, shutdowns, normal operations, upset conditions, and emergency procedures
  • Conduct field inspections of pump stations, valves, pigging facilities, SCADA equipment, instrumentation, metering, and pressure-control systems
  • Identify, respond to, and report abnormal operating conditions, including pressure deviations, leaks, and equipment failures
  • Provide operational support and field verification to the Control Room
  • Prepare pig launchers and receivers using lockout/tagout, depressurization, and verification procedures
  • Load, launch, track, and receive cleaning, batching, gauging, and intelligent/ILI pigs
  • Monitor pressures, pump rates, and pig signals; troubleshoot stalled or stuck pigs and assist with recovery
  • Inspect pig traps, closures, seals, kicker lines, drains, vents, and instrumentation after runs
  • Maintain pig inventories and proper storage and handling
  • Conduct ground, vehicle, or aerial right-of-way patrols to identify encroachments, ground disturbance, erosion, geotechnical hazards, and leaks/releases
  • Assist with coating inspections and repairs, corrosion monitoring, integrity digs, excavations, ILI tool correlation, and feature verification
  • Implement mitigation actions assigned by Integrity or Engineering teams
  • Follow safety programs covering hazard identification, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and pressure safety
  • Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, drills, and incident investigations
  • Act as safety watch during pigging and other high-risk operations
  • Maintain exclusion zones and manage hazards involving high pressure, NGL vapours, and H₂S where applicable
  • Maintain readiness for alarms, releases, and public complaints
  • Participate in emergency response exercises and assist with isolation, containment, notifications, and response coordination
  • Complete daily operational logs, pigging reports, inspection and patrol reports, and AOC/incident reports
  • Ensure documentation meets CER regulatory requirements and company Management System standards
  • Perform on-call and emergency response duties, with extensive travel and out-of-town work as required

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of pipeline operations and hydraulics
  • Strong understanding of NGL properties and pressure management
  • Strong understanding of pigging principles and pig behavior
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, alignment sheets, operating manuals, and procedures
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience working with high-pressure systems
  • Proficiency with SCADA interfaces and field instrumentation
  • Strong situational awareness, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities
  • Technical diploma or equivalent oil & gas field experience
  • 2–3+ years of experience in pipeline operations, liquids pipelines, pigging, or integrity-related field work
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Willingness to participate in on-call, standby, shift work, and overtime as required
  • Compliance with company Drug & Alcohol Policy
  • Ability to meet respiratory protection/clean-shaven requirements where applicable
  • Preferred: previous NGL or liquids pipeline experience
  • Preferred: pigging and ILI tool handling experience
  • Preferred: ground disturbance and ROW monitoring experience
  • Preferred: First Aid, Emergency Response, Confined Space, and H₂S Alive
  • Preferred: familiarity with CER OPR and Management System requirements
