Responsibilities
Lead a Product Engineering squad of approximately 8–15 engineers
Report directly to the SVP of Engineering
Own team budget and headcount planning
Hire exceptional engineers and develop existing team members
Manage performance and make fit decisions when necessary
Establish team processes, norms, and delivery practices
Drive predictable, high-quality delivery of customer-impacting work
Keep the team close to customers and the bots it ships
Improve testing, validation, developer experience, and production quality
Participate in engineering-management decisions on hiring, career ladders, roadmap prioritization, OKRs, quality standards, delivery processes, AI enablement, org design, on-call, incident culture, and capacity planning
Turn AI experimentation into team-level improvements in throughput, quality, and speed to production
Requirements
5+ years of experience managing engineers or engineering teams
10+ years of experience in a technical field such as software engineering
Track record of hiring, developing, and managing the performance of strong technical talent
Experience owning team budget and headcount planning
Demonstrated hands-on AI fluency with practical experience using modern AI tools in real work and something to show
History of delivering software predictably with a team
Technical depth in system design and tradeoffs
Experience partnering closely with Product and other cross-functional teams
People-management and servant-leadership capability
Ability to build trust, grow careers, and lead senior engineers
Technical credibility with engineers
Customer-focused approach
Preferred: experience in conversational AI, voice or telephony, ML systems, or real-time infrastructure
Preferred: experience scaling testing and validation for AI or nondeterministic systems
Preferred: comfort in a lean, fast-moving, remote startup
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada
Willingness to travel for in-person meetings approximately every six weeks
