Store Manager leading Salvation Army thrift-store operations in Saskatoon or Regina. Managing sales, staffing, inventory, budgets, customer service, and donation processing.
Responsibilities
Direct all store operations to meet sales targets and control expenses while maintaining customer service standards
Hire, orient, train, evaluate, recognize, discipline, and terminate staff according to Territorial/National standards
Manage health and safety, labour, and employee relations issues at store level
Decide on in-store promotions and auctions and monitor competitors’ stock and marketing trends
Plan store layouts, window displays, and merchandise displays
Determine and maintain appropriate inventory levels using spot checks and weekly sales records
Control inventory by ensuring donations are retrieved, sorted, and priced appropriately
Ensure store safety and cleanliness, including snow removal, clear fire exits, and spill cleanup
Prepare sales, staffing cost, payroll, financial, and other reports for National and Regional offices
Work with Salvation Army agencies to deliver emergency and disaster services as assigned by the District Manager
Plan, organize, direct, and control all store operations
Help store associates connect with customers and demonstrate a value-driven workforce
Establish and manage the in-store budget within guidelines
Execute budgetary objectives by attaining sales margins and maintaining staff cost ratios and profit objectives
Ensure nightly sales are deposited into the appropriate financial institution
Analyze store financial statements and strategize actions to attain financial goals and monitor cost of goods
Supervise 10 or more full-time, part-time, and/or volunteer staff
Report directly to the District Manager
Perform other work-related duties as assigned
Requirements
Willingness to develop an understanding of and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
Compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures
Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
Completion of College Diploma in Business Retail Management or equivalent an asset
Basic accounting skills required
First aid training required or willingness to learn in-house
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
3 years of progressive experience in retail
Thrift retail experience an asset
Fashion background an asset
Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, Word required
Experience working for a not-for-profit/charitable organization and retail experience an asset
French language an asset
Communication, organizational, problem-solving, relationship management, and negotiation skills required
Attention to detail
Ability to lead and develop a team
Ability to successfully undergo applicable screening and background checks
