About the role

  • Senior collections officer managing third-party financial portfolios for Canadian credit bureau CBCC. Negotiating payments, resolving delinquent accounts, and maintaining compliance in a remote frontline team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage collection activities for assigned third-party portfolios, including financial loan accounts
  • Conduct professional collection calls with past due customers and negotiate payment arrangements within established client guidelines and risk parameters
  • Apply advanced collections techniques to resolve delinquent accounts while maintaining a customer-focused approach
  • Assess account risk and escalate accounts requiring additional action
  • Accurately document collection activity, account updates, commitments to pay, and payment arrangements within collection systems
  • Apply negotiation, objection handling, and problem-solving skills to manage challenging conversations
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, client expectations, and industry best practices
  • Achieve individual collection targets and contribute to departmental performance goals
  • Support team success through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence
  • Complete additional collection responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Third-Party Collection Agency experience
  • Previous experience supporting Schedule A Bank portfolios is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record managing high-performing frontline collection desks and achieving performance targets
  • Strong performance history with demonstrated commitment to compliance and quality standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collection conversations
  • Strong negotiation skills to influence outcomes and secure payment commitments
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook experience
  • Ability to adapt and perform successfully in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Commitment to continuous learning and career development
  • Flexibility to work one late evening shift from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. ET
  • Mandatory Saturday shift from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. ET
