About the role
- Electrical Engineer in Training at Stantec, working on airport projects and collaborating with various engineering sectors. Involves design and project management under supervision of senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Performs design tasks on assigned airport projects, under the supervision of our Lead Engineer or Project Manager, including preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports.
- Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.
- Design, construction supervision and commissioning of airport electrical infrastructure, field electrical centers, regulators, cabling, remote kiosks, transformers, and related systems.
- Design of airfield installations for airfield ground lighting, approach lighting, signage, guidance systems, floodlighting and various other aerodrome electrical, guidance and lighting systems.
- Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the senior engineering staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Registered EIT or eligible to become registered within 3 months.
- Minimum of 0-4 years of experience.
- Internship experience preferred.
- Experience with interdisciplinary civil and mechanical concepts is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of Revit and AutoCad, and the use of it as a drafting/design tool.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Basic understanding of local and federal design guidelines and specifications.
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.
- Ability to take direction, follow process and accept feedback and suggestions from senior engineers/designers.
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with AGI 32, Visual Lighting Software, SKM, Newforma.
- Practical experience of SKM, AGI32 and AutoCAD Civil 3D to be considered an asset.
