Responsibilities
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines
Ingest, transform, and integrate data from multiple internal and external sources
Build and manage scalable, reliable, and secure data platforms, databases, and data warehouses
Develop data modeling, transformation frameworks, and semantic layers for analytics, reporting, and operational applications
Own data integration processes, including quality monitoring, validation, reconciliation, lineage tracking, and error handling
Translate data requirements into scalable data solutions with business and technical stakeholders
Drive best practices in architecture, governance, and performance optimization
Design and maintain database schemas, indexing strategies, partitioning approaches, and query optimization techniques
Implement and support cloud-based data solutions using AWS services
Improve the enterprise data ecosystem through automation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and operational monitoring
Requirements
3–5 years of Data Engineering experience developing and supporting enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration processes, and automated workflows
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Engineering
Strong SQL and database expertise, including relational and non-relational database design, schema development, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning
Advanced data modeling skills, including semantic, dimensional, and transformation models
Hands-on AWS and modern data warehouse experience such as Snowflake, Redshift, or similar platforms
Python and data integration experience across internal and external sources
Ability to ensure data quality, governance, and reliability
Expertise in mutual funds and market-based insurance products
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex methodologies to non-technical audiences
Experience with Financial Services, Mutual Funds, ETFs, Segregated Funds, or Investment Operations preferred
Experience with Airflow, AWS Glue, Step Functions, or similar orchestration and automation tools preferred
Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms preferred
Experience supporting CI/CD and DevOps practices for data platforms preferred
Some travel may be required
Extra hours may be required during quarter-end reporting periods and periods with high mutual fund trading volumes
Reliability Status Clearance required
Must account for activities if lived or travelled outside Canada for 6 consecutive months during the last 5 years as part of the Government of Canada clearance process
