About the role
- Data Analyst improving Instacart’s online grocery fulfillment quality through operational analytics. Monitoring retailer performance, diagnosing issues, and delivering recommendations to cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor and resolve retailer performance issues across broad dimensions
- Build dashboards and processes to simplify problem diagnosis and support new retailer launches
- Track and analyze performance fluctuations and outliers in key Retailer Quality metrics
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Analyze large Retailer Fulfillment Quality datasets to derive business insights
- Independently create and execute analytical plans to identify, understand, and reduce fulfillment quality issues
- Support analytics requests, ad hoc retailer analyses, launch impact assessments, and retailer escalations
- Provide initiative sizing for product and analytical roadmaps
- Create and regularly present insights decks to business and technical stakeholders
- Frame findings as clear, data-backed narratives with actionable recommendations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to improve fulfillment quality, products, and processes
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in a data analytics-related role such as business intelligence, corporate strategy, consulting, or data science
- Experience analyzing and visualizing large datasets
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis
- Ability to aggregate and synthesize large amounts of data
- Deep understanding of micro and macro fulfillment metrics and systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail
- Ability to detect anomalies in performance metrics and trends, form hypotheses, and draw conclusions through nuanced analysis
- Proficiency in PowerPoint or Google Slides
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of ownership
- Comfort proposing new ideas to challenge existing processes
- Preferred: experience in a consumer marketplace or logistics business
- Preferred: familiarity with Snowflake or similar data warehouses, GitHub, and Jira
- Preferred: experience with Mode or Tableau
- Preferred: experience working directly with product and engineering teams on scalable process solutions
- Preferred: experience using AI tools for analytics, including data validation and reproducibility
