About the role

  • Digital Product Owner responsible for maximizing product value in Sun Life Financial's investment services. Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver advisor and client-focused digital solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a product vision and roadmap aligning to overall strategic vision
  • Create, prioritize and manage a Product Backlog to maximize business value, maintaining an adequate backlog of user stories to sustain persistent agile team’s delivery capability
  • Communicate business, client/advisor and end user goals, decisions and priorities
  • Develop user stories, define acceptance criteria and be available to the agile delivery team to provide clarity whenever required
  • Sync with other Product Owners when needed from an overall product, company, or advisor/client perspective to ensure there is consistency across products and product releases
  • Be an agile change agent; support organizational change management, when required
  • During Sprint Execution, the Product Owner will be involved in:
  • Sprint Planning preparation
  • Participating in daily Scrum meetings
  • Prioritizing the team’s backlog. Includes balancing new features, enablers, defect fixes, dependencies, and removing technical debt
  • Backlog grooming and refinement
  • Articulate and validate the Definition of Done, the Definition of Release and validate/provide acceptance on user stories once they are completed
  • Providing acceptance when user stories are completed
  • Participate in business validation of product releases
  • Lead Sprint Demo/Review sessions and participate in Retrospective ceremonies
  • Assess risks, impacts and manage dependencies across delivery teams

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the investment services and investment funds industry or related wealth management experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technology or ability to learn about technology and digital products
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively, develop solid relationships, manage differences and influence change
  • Be a capable decision maker and influencer that can drive decisions with executives, stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to collaborate with and make decisions with the agile team’s technical lead, with support from the Platform leadership team, when needed
  • Ability to assess an audience to shape communications and clearly articulate thoughts and ideas
  • Ability to manage and lead the team to push solutions forward
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity be flexible and adaptive to change
  • Ability to work independently and exercise judgement
